Question:
I have a question. We recently bought a 2005 Pacific Seacraft Dana 24 with a North loose footed full battened Mainsail with 3 reef points. We packed the boat and had it delivered to our location. The question I have, there is a Velcro strip that was somehow connected to the back of the main to the boom. I cannot seem to figure out how it is installed and what’s its purpose is in life.

Thanks,
Bob

Answer: Hi Bob,

The sail was supplied with a clew strap made of spectra webbing with velcro on both sides. Pass the strap through the sails clew grommet and around the boom, keeping the sail as close to the boom as you can and passing the strap through the clew 2-3 times. The strap takes the place of the clew car on the end of the boom. If you have a functional clew car, you can discard the strap.
