Question:
Our 52’ sailboat has a large North Sails main has grommets for reefing ties. I find it a little difficult to insert a regular sail tie through the rings, is there a better tie or strap to use to secure the excess sail material to the foot of the sail?

Thank you for your help,
Majken Burman Elgaard

Answer: Hi Majken,

You can use any line for this task. Brightly colored line is good because there is less chance that you will forget one when shaking out the reef. If you have an old sheet or halyard, cut it into 6-8' lengths, pull out the core material and use just the cover material as a tie. (Tape and melt the ends to keep them from fraying).
