Question:
I am rigging my new mainsail on my CS 36. My mainsheet has 3 blocks on the boom that go to block on traveller, which is on top of the cabin. Should I pull the pin out of the blocks on boom so that they will swivel or should I leave the pin in, so blocks will stay in line with the boom?

Thanx,
Bill Old

Answer: Hi Bill,

The blocks on the boom should be pinned to prevent them from spinning and twisting the mainsheet. Without seeing how the sheet leads to the mainsheet winch, it is hard to say what the orientation of the blocks should be. In most cases you pin the block so the sheave is parallel to the long axis of the boom.
