Question:
I have a Catalina 30. My wife and I love to sail, but are "slow, safe" cruisers, not performance cruisers. We love to sail with our mainsail and 110 jib while others are flying 135 and 150 genoas. This keeps the work required down, the heel of the boat less, and comfort high.

Would we like a G0, G2, or G3?

Thanks,
Mike Kovacs

Answer: Mike,

I am kind of a “slow safe” guy myself, when it comes to double handing. My suggestion would be that a G0 on a furler as it enables you to deploy or get rid of the sail from the cockpit via the use of a furler as opposed to “Snuffing” the sail from the deck. Also the G0 is the smallest of the cruising asymmetrical spinnakers we offer, making it easier to handle in general. The G0 also makes an excellent drifter, allowing you to sail at lower wind speeds than the conventional genoa.

Best of luck!
