Question:
Hi – I own a Jeanneau Sun Magic 44 and the boat came with a full height spinnaker. I would like to know if this is something I can have converted to an asymmetric spinnaker so I can fly this without a pole – is that possible and is this a service you can do up here in Seattle?

Thanks for listening,
Nick

Answer: Nick,

Our service department here in Seattle would be happy to help you convert your spinnaker. We can convert conventional spinnakers to asymmetrics, but they they usually fly off a bow sprit. Since you Jeanneau is probably not set up with a sprit, we would be converting your sail into a gennaker that would tack at the bow. Feel free to give Angus, the head of our service department, a call for more information, or to set up a time to get the work started.
