Question:
I have acquired a C&C 27 with newer North sails, including a fully-battened main on which the North logo is inscribed with "lazy jacks." I have no idea how these are rigged. Is there an illustrated guide of any kind?

Thanks,

Answer: Hi Ken, there are many different ways to rig lazy jacks. On your C&C 27, there will likely be three attachment points on the boom for the cascading diagonal legs of the system and the vertical legs will either be lashed to the spreaders near the mast or tied into padeyes on the sides of the mast. It is hard to describe how to rig the lines but a rigger or your local North Sails rep could draw a diagram once they saw the parts that came with your boat.

It is really unusual that your North logo says "lazy jacks" on it. The lazy jacks are not part of the sail and the only mark that we allow on the logo is the serial number of the sail. I would guess that the previous owner or a sail repair loft must have made that mark on the North logo.
