Question: Recently purchased 28' Catalina tall rig that had a Lazymate mainsail system that worked quite well. Can you tell me where I can purchase this exact system or who was original maufacturer? Can you suggest a similar unencumbered simple flaking system for a full battened mainsail? Thank you.

Answer: Thank you for your question. The lazy mate system is no longer being manufactured, so you you have a few different options for a new system. The easiest of the systems to install and use is the Harken Lazy Jack system. This system is light weight and works very well with a full battened mainsail. Their are a number of other systems on the marker ranging from the Dutchman system to the quick covers, but I think that the lazy jack systems are the simplest systems.
