Question:
I am considering a leisure furl system for a 55' boat. Is is possible to
modify an existing main to work well with a leisure furl boom or do you have
to start with a brand new sail?

Thank you,
Greg Lewis

Answer: Hi Greg, It might be possible to modify an existing mainsail to work with
a Leisurefurl system, but in every case we have looked into it is not practical. The leisurefurl mainsail requires unique construction of the batten pocket ends and the batten angle to the luff and spacing is critical to the system functioning correctly.
The reefs and corner patching are differant and the foot construction and luff rope
are different. There is a 95% chance that your existing sail will not be suitable for
the new spar system.
