Question:
I have an '81 Boston Whaler Harpoon 5.2 with the original North Sails. The original mainsail has a rope foot to attach to the boom. As it's time for a new mainsail do you recommend getting one that's loose-footed? Karen

Answer: Hi Karen, I would recommend a loose footed mainsail for your Harpoon. The sail should be made with a clew slug that will slide in the boom groove. The shape and performance of the sail will not be changed by the different foot arrangement. The biggest differance is that it will be easier to get the sail on and off the boom.
