Question: Hello, I have
an Ericson 28+ which has a fractional rig. The mast was re-rigged
last Fall and a bail and block installed at the masthead. Do you
recommend a taller Gennaker hoisted to the masthead, not just for
more area (usually only the wife and I) but simplicity as well,
or the standard luff length for headsails?
Thanks,

Hi Lee, A masthead Gennaker will definitely give your boat better
performance downwind. The advantages are:
1) More sail area means more speed.
2) Better separation between the gennaker and the mainsail will
allow you to sail at deeper apparent wind angles.
3) The snuffer cone will be hoisted well clear of the headstay so
it will be easier to jibe the sail and snuffer.
