on August 31, 2005 by Bil Hansen More than 10 years ago, I did a North U Fast Course. I still have the course notes. But I have, long ago, lost the Sailscope that came with it. The Sailscope was a small clear plastic card (the course notes call it a 'sighting card', marked with a grid, that could be used to measure the depth and location of the draft of the mainsail or jib. I've been good at estimating the position and depth of the draft without using a Sailscope. So my question is: Does North Sails still sell the Sailscope? I plan to visit Brisbane, Australia, in a few months and I've noted that North Sails has a loft there. Would I be able to buy a new Sailscope (or even a few of them, seeing as how I lose them) there? Cheers, Answer: Dear Bil, The sailscope is no longer available. The preference today is to use digital photographs to record and later analyze sail shapes. This provides a more detailed and accurate analysis, but of course lacks the immediacy of the sailscope. Thanks for your inquiry. Regards, Email North Sails with your question today!
