Question:
Hi, I got in possession a used North Sail light spinnaker, cca 50m2 used on a boat with the mast 10.5 m tall. Would like to use it on Albin Express 25.5 (fractional rig) as a must top spinnaker in lighter winds. Is this a good idea to start with? If so, what modifications are needed? Would just bringing a new halyard on the top of the must do the job?

Thanks,

Answer: Hi Vlado, The rough description of the sail sounds like a good fit for the Albin Express 25.5 if it is rigged for a masthead halyard. However, since the relatively large mast top section was not intended for use with a masthead kite, you should have a mast builder or a very good rigger take a look at it. At the least, they might be able to give you an idea of the maximum wind strength for broad reaching with a masthead kite.
