Solutions for Cruising Sailors

Submitted on April 29, 2005 by David Kozera

Question:
I just purchased an S2 9.1 with your sails on her. The main, which is loose footed, has a couple of velco strips which are to be used somewhere on the outhaul. The fellow I purchased the boat from could not explain the way this strip is attached and how it should be adjusted, if at all.

Any information you can provide would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dave

Answer: Hi Dave,

It is hard to tell exactly what you are referring to from the description. If you could email a digital photo that would help to clarify what you are looking at. Many of our customers use a Velcro and webbing strap to hold the clew ring of the mainsail onto the boom. The Velcro clew strap is one long piece that is wrapped tightly around the boom and through the clew ring.
