Caminos is top J/109 at Acura Key West 2008! | |||||||||
Does
this class scream competitive or what? After eight races over five days
in Key West, all four J/109’s finished within five points of each
other! Even though they were sprinkled in with the PHRF 2 classes, the
J/109’s stood out as a close-racing group. Don and Nick
Filipelli’s Caminos came in fourth
in PHRF 2 and has bragging rights as the top J/109. |

Caminos used standard J/109 CDP sails, and raced with North Sails’ Chris Buncke of the Long Island loft. Don and crew had nothing but praise for the speed and versatility from their North Sails. “Right out of the box these sails showed excellent fit, excellent durability and most important fast, easily dialed in shapes, which are very adjustable over the entire wind range.” He continues, “Job well done! It was a wonderful feeling to end a week of racing on such a high note.” Job well done to Caminos in Key West. Keep up the good work! North Sails-equipped J/109s did great all across the USA in 2007. However, the biggest fleet is still in England. There, North-powered J/109s placed 1st-3rd at Cowes Race Week, and 1st-7th at the National Championship. Ten of the top eleven boats used the standard CDP class sails. |
