on December 18, 2005 by Rich Klimas I own a Irwin 43 MKIII and just started doing some ocean racing. I only have the original genoa (about 130%) and the fully batten main. Plan on doing the FCOC April and the Gulfstreamer this year in May. I’ve been toying with doing one of the Bermuda races in 2007. I know I need a storm genoa. What size would be right for the Irwin, then what sort of other sails would I need? I was thinking of in addition to the storm a # 2, what size? Storm Tri sail? Thank for the help. Rich Klimas Answer: Dear Rich, This collection of questions deserves the close
attention of your
sailmaker. The size of the storm jib is a function of boat size and
displacement. Sail options might include light, moderate and heavy weather
genoas plus a gennaker with snuffer. As I said, you should sit down
with your sailmaker to review your options in more detail. Email North Sails with your question today! <-- Go BACK to the Racing Solutions Main Page.
